Date: 01/06/2011 Don't be fooled by the old stories of poor quality workmanship out of China - times have changed! And if you listen to sheepskin manfacturer Yellow Earth, there are other big lessons to learn about how and when to set up in China. Sheepskin manfacturer and fashion boot producer Yellow Earth has challenged two long-held beliefs about doing in business in China. The first belief - that you need establish a sound footing in Australia before you head in that direction. Not so! And the second belief - beware the poor quality of the workmanship. Not so either!Yellow Earth disregarded the first belief by going straight to China to establish a presence there first. And it has achieved that in astonishing fashion, with 40 stores in Shanghai alone which it hopes to grow to 70 stores before the end of this year. The company also puts paid to the warnings about shoddy craftsmanship out of China. According to Yellow Earth's Susy Artico, manager of the recently opened and only store in Australia, the quality of the workmanship in China these days can be superb and the belief that it is outshone by Australian quality workmanship is outdated.
